I woke up this morning to no electricity. Actually, as I sit here and think about it, I believe Jeny came home last night and mentioned it to me, but I don't often remember shit that said to me when I'm asleep or half asleep or semi asleep. Or dozing. Anyway, zero electricity when I awoke this morning.
We had quite a bit of rain and wind last night, so my first assumption was that we had an outage in the neighborhood. It was still dark out when I got up, so I affixed my sandals to my feet, and Molly and I went outside to see if we could see other lights, or if the whole neighborhood was dark. Lights next door and across the street. Doesn't look like an area thing to me.
Checked the breaker box; all was fine.
So, I decided needed to call PG and E (Pacific Gas and Electric) to see if there was an outage, or if I had forgotten to pay my bill, and mayhap they shut me off. I don't remember paying it, but that doesn't mean anything. I was told that, yes, there were outages in Stockton, but that their bill paying site went down over night, and they couldn't check my account. So, even if I didn't pay my bill and they cut me off, I STILL can't pay it until their site comes back up, they hope by noon.
Well, shit.
I decided to go across the street to the hospital, since they have WiFi, heat, coffee, food, and electricity, all things that I am missing this morning, and hunker down in the cafeteria and commune with the world, which I did for a couple hours, till my hip and back started bitching. Now I'm home, still with no electricity.
Plus I'm missing football.
Someone's head is gonna roll for this, except if I fucked up and didn't pay the bill, in which case I will smile sheepishly, pay it, and magically have electricity...right after PG and E let's me pay it.
But maybe it's an outage.
...yeah...right...
2:45ish, Left Coast time…
Alrighty, we had a bit of a wind last night, and it turns out that a tree made the transmission line to my house go boom.
I got fahr again, and all is well or, anyway, better than it was ten minutes ago. Plus, I’m freezing.
